Awesome High Point

::::::::::::

High Point is part of the tri-city hub of the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina!  Close to the larger cities of Greensboro and Winston-Salem, yet far enough away for that home-town feel, High Point is a fabulous, unique town with an interesting history.

Established in 1859, High Point was the highest point on the railroad line between Charlotte and Goldsboro – and that’s how we got our name!  Because of the importance of the rail system to industry, furniture and textile manufacturers soon realized High Point was the place to be.  In 1880, High Point got its first cotton mill.

After World War II, High Point earned the title Furniture Capital of the World and we continue to earn that title today.  Twice a year, furniture industry representatives from all over the world gather at the High Point Furniture Market to determine next year’s trends.

As you tour High Point, it quickly becomes quite evident that this history continues to shape High Point’s future.  However, textiles and furniture are not all High Point has to offer.

In 1924, High Point University was founded.  Starting with 3 buildings and 122 students, High Point University is now one of the more prominent universities in the U.S.  Step out of the classroom and travel to one of our area’s many nature trails, lakes, or parks to experience the Piedmont Triad’s great outdoors.

There is so much to see and to do in our area!  Baseball, furniture shopping, wineries, fabulous concerts and shows, along with museums and historical sites are just a few of the exciting activities just waiting for you!

Come enjoy the charms of High Point and North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad while relaxing at Seven Oaks Inn / Bed and Breakfast . . . an experience you won’t soon forget!
